Focus timer

Pick one thing, close the rest, and start the timer. It counts real time even if the tab is in the background, and it never plays a sound.

Loading the Focus Timer…

How it works

  1. Decide on the one thing you’ll work on for the next 25 minutes. Close what you don’t need.
  2. Press Start. You can pause, resume, or finish early; the timer keeps track of the time that actually passed.
  3. When time is up you’ll see how long you focused. Take a proper break before the next round.

What your result means

The result is simply the minutes you spent. There’s no score, streak or ranking: finishing early is fine, and so is stopping when you’re done.

Short, bounded blocks make it easier to start. The point is the work, not the clock.

Why a bounded block helps

Starting is often the hard part. A fixed block shrinks the commitment to something you can begin right now, and a clear end makes it easier to protect from interruptions.

Twenty-five minutes is a common length, not a rule. If it doesn’t suit you, finish early or run it again.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It stores when you started rather than counting ticks, so it catches up the moment you return, even if your browser slowed the tab down.

Does it make a sound when time is up?

No. The timer is silent so it won’t startle you or anyone nearby. The screen changes and a screen reader announcement tells you the time is up.

Is anything stored?

No. There’s no account, no history and no data kept, not even on this device.

Can I change the length?

This version is a fixed 25 minutes. You can finish early at any time.
