Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and BalanceIt (“we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of our marketing website at balanceit.life, our web application at app.balanceit.life, our iOS and Android apps (bundle ID com.balanceit.nine), and our macOS desktop app (bundle ID life.balanceit.desktop) — together, the “Services.”

By creating an account, checking the consent box shown at sign-up, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the authority to accept these Terms, whether for yourself or on behalf of an organization.

3. Your account

• Accounts are created and authenticated exclusively through Google Sign-In — we do not manage passwords.
• You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for all activity under your BalanceIt account.
• Notify us at support@balanceit.life if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You may delete your data at any time from Settings, or request full account deletion by email, as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Plans, fees, and quotas

BalanceIt offers a free plan with defined limits (for example on projects and labels) and one or more paid plans that expand those limits and unlock additional capabilities, as described in the app at the time of purchase. We may change plan features, quotas, or pricing prospectively; where required by law, we will give notice before a change takes effect for existing paid subscribers. Fees, where applicable, are described and processed through the purchase flow shown in the app and are non-refundable except as required by law or as we expressly state at the time of purchase.

5. Your content

You own the tasks, notes, reflections, and other content you create in BalanceIt (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, worldwide license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate, maintain, and improve the Services for you — including, where you enable it, using AI providers as described in Section 6 and our Privacy Policy. You are solely responsible for Your Content and must have the rights necessary to store and process it through the Services.

6. AI-assisted features

BalanceIt offers optional features that use artificial intelligence — for example onboarding suggestions, screen or task filtering, automatic summaries, and task-quality scoring (each an “AI Feature”). This section describes their scope and limits. Please read it before relying on any AI Feature.

• Scope. AI Features are assistive tools that generate suggestions, summaries, or scores based on the content you provide and your app context. They do not make decisions for you and are not a substitute for your own judgment.
• Accuracy is not guaranteed. AI-generated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or inappropriate for your situation. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on or acting on it.
• Not professional advice. AI Features are not medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and are not a substitute for consulting a qualified professional. Do not use AI Features to make decisions that require such advice.
• Subject to change. The availability, behavior, output quality, and underlying models or providers of AI Features are subject to change, suspension, limitation (for example usage quotas), or discontinuation at any time, with or without notice, and with or without changes to these Terms. We do not guarantee that any specific AI Feature will continue to be offered.
• Third-party AI providers. AI Features may send relevant portions of your prompts and app context to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) to generate a response, as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not submit sensitive information you do not want processed for that purpose.
• No warranty on AI output. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AI-generated content is provided “as is” without warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services, other accounts, or our systems;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services, except as permitted by law;
• interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services (for example through excessive automated requests);
• use the Services to submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit.

8. Third-party services

The Services integrate with third-party services you may choose to use, including Google (sign-in), OpenAI (AI Features), Twilio (WhatsApp task capture), and Expo (push notifications). Your use of those integrations may also be subject to that provider's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the security or integrity of the Services. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 10, 11, and 12) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES, INCLUDING ALL AI FEATURES, ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY AI FEATURE'S OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BALANCEIT AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES OR RELIANCE ON ANY AI FEATURE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) 5,000 INR. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or from Your Content.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts located in India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services, except where applicable law requires otherwise for your jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Services or to AI Features described in Section 6. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by email. Continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the Services.
