How it works
- Tell us roughly how many hours work took, then answer six short questions about switching off, sleep and health, relationships, growth, home and personal time.
- You’ll see whether work is currently taking high, moderate or balanced attention, which areas are being squeezed, and three changes worth considering this week.
- No account, no email and no data leaves your browser.
What your result means
This is a check on room, not on hours alone. Fifty hours of energising work with time to switch off can leave more room than thirty-five hours you can never leave behind.
It doesn’t measure stress or burnout and doesn’t diagnose anything. If work is affecting your health, talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional.
Work-life balance isn’t only work vs. life
“Life” isn’t one thing. When work expands, it rarely squeezes all of life equally: usually sleep, relationships or personal growth go first, while admin quietly piles up.
BalanceIt looks at life as nine areas — Health, Mind, Growth, Work, Life Admin, Money, Home, Relationships and Contribution — so you can see exactly what’s being squeezed, not just that something is.
Frequently asked questions
How many hours a week is too many?
There’s no single number. What matters is whether work leaves room for sleep, health, relationships and recovery. That’s why this check asks about those, not only hours.
Is this a burnout test?
No. It’s a self-reflection tool, not a medical or psychological assessment. It can’t tell you whether you’re burnt out. If you’re worried about that, please speak to a doctor or a qualified professional.
What should I change first?
Start with the area that’s most squeezed and make one small, protected commitment, like a finishing time on two days or one unhurried evening. Small changes you keep beat big ones you don’t.
